Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation

Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation

Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) funds excellence in research into the causes, prevention, treatment and cure of type 1 diabetes and its serious and debilitating complications. We are currently funding more than 30 UK research projects.

Type 1 (juvenile) diabetes strikes children suddenly and requires multiple daily injections of insulin and finger prick blood glucose tests. Insulin, however is not the cure for diabetes, nor does it prevent its eventual and devastating complications which include kidney failure, blindness, heart disease, stroke and amputation.

Although our primary aim is to find a cure we recognise the challenge of living with type 1 diabetes. We provide information about the progress of research to individuals and families living with diabetes and work with children and adults with type 1 diabetes.

The Event Directors' youngest son was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes in 2006 and since then England's Medeival Festival has been a proud supporter of Juvenile Diabetes Research. Donations are make to the charity annually.
